Jusuf Kalla, vice-president of Indonesia.

June 29, 2006 update: One hardly knows whether to cry or laugh on learning the comments of Indonesia's Vice President Jusuf Kalla at a travel industry seminar on attracting more Arab visitors to Indonesia.

Kalla noted that many Arab tourists currently traveled to Puncak - a hill town near Jakarta notorious for prostitution, where signs in Arabic at restaurants and hotels testify to the its popularity with Arabs - to enter into short-term marriage contracts with Indonesian women.
We need different kinds of marketing campaigns, more targeted. At the moment most Arabs go to Puncak. If they go there looking for widows or divorcees that is not our business, it is not a problem. So what if the man goes home, the lady gets a small house, that is good isn't it?
demikian (mantan?) wapres tercinta kita ...

SAKIT !

There are an estimated 2,000 prostitutes working in Dubai. Many are brought from abroad, often against their will, and sometimes suffering abuse in the process.

The latest U.S. State Department report on human trafficking, released in June, sharply criticizes the U.A.E. government for failing to tackle the links between prostitution and illegal trafficking. The report says: "The United Arab Emirates is a destination country for men, women, and children trafficked primarily from South and East Asia and the former Soviet Union for the purposes of sexual and labor exploitation."

It adds: "A significant number of foreign women are lured to the U.A.E. under false pretenses and subsequently forced into sexual servitude, primarily by criminals of their own country who take advantage of the U.A.E.'s openness."

Dubai's Cyclone night club is a typical example of the U.A.E.'s flourishing international sex trade. The massive club, owned by an Indian based in London, is known by visitors as the "United Nations of prostitution." On an average night, visitors say, there are possibly as many as 500 prostitutes from as many as two dozen countries -- including Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, China, Russia, Taiwan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

But Cyclone is hardly the only place in Dubai providing work for prostitutes. You can find them at almost every five-star hotel in the emirate, or even on the streets.

...

Katarina was eventually able to get out of prostitution. In some ways, she is one of the lucky ones. She says she knows of a girl -- perhaps 14 years old -- whose own mother, an alcoholic, sold her for $500 to traffickers to be brought to Dubai.

...

But as the number of women and their nationalities has increased, so has the number of abuse cases. In the last month alone, half a dozen women have been found dead and in some cases mutilated, according to diplomatic missions, press reports, and U.A.E. sources.

Hidden in Plain Sight - Prostitution in the Arab World

Prostitution is alive and well in Amman. This massage parlour, although illegal, is by no means unique; in fact, its dull façade is practically the standard for such businesses, which have sprung up across Jordan’s capital in the last year. “You can see their advertisements in newspapers,” says Tamer Khreis, a human-rights lawyer in Jordan. “People all know that massage parlours are used for something other than massage.”

Everyone also knows that this is not the only way to pay for sex. It is available on street corners, as well as in hundreds of similarly nondescript nightclubs that cater to expats and wealthy Jordanians. Pornography is viewed, shared and habitually obsessed over in Internet cafés around the city. Because a woman’s virginity is prized, al-Qassem says that young Jordanians choose to have anal sex instead—usually without protection.

Internet porn is more than rampant in Amman; it is an epidemic. “Most of the people who use the Internet, they use it for porn,” al-Qassem says. “They pay 7 to 8 JDs [$12–$14] for the day, and they just watch porno." The stories Ayman tells seem almost surreal, at least to Western ears. He once had a woman wearing a hijab ask for help downloading hardcore pornography.

The Factbook on Global Sexual Exploitation

Saudi Arabia TRAFFICKING

In mid-1997 hundreds of Indonesian women, most under twenty years old, were in prostitution in Saudi Arabia. (Mien Sugandhi, Minister for Women’s Affairs in Indonesia reports, "Hundreds of RI’s Women Believed To Work As Prostitutes in Saudi Arabia," Kompas, 7 February 1997)

Official Response and Action

A crack-down on a prostitution ring in Saudi Arabia, into which Thai women are trafficked, in being coordinated by Bangkok Member of Parliament and women's and children's rights advocate Paveena Hongsakul. (Preecha Sa-Ardsorn, "Saudi woman procurer surrenders before police," The Nation, 19 July 1998)

Thailand’s President Wan Muhammad Noor Matha said that Bangkok should make it clear to Saudi officials that the Thai government wants justice in a case in which nine Thai women were forced into prostitution in Saudi Arabia. Wan Noor said he was confident the Saudi authorities would co-operate with their Thai counterparts. ("Wan Noor urges Riyadh to punish wrongdoers," The Nation, 18 July 1998)

Case

The story of two Thai women:

Two Thai women forced trafficked to Saudi Arabia have come forward leading to the surrender of their trafficker, another Thai woman named Suna Thianmanee. Both women had contacted Suna in hopes of finding high paying work in Saudi Arabia, but instead were forced into prostitution. The women were forced to travel, in a tiny compartment below the truck's undercarriage or empty oil tank of the vehicle tanker in the scorching sun, from one construction site to another and to offer their sexual services.

Upon arriving in the Saudi capital, they were forced to share a five-metre-by-four-metre room with seven other girls, one of whom was Suna's sister. They were told that they would be engaged in prostitution, not restaurant helpers as promised, if they wanted to live. One of the women said that all nine girls, including herself and Suna's sister, had been wrongfully lured into the sex trade. Each girl had to service four to ten customers a day. Suna would earn about 200 to 800 riyals (Baht 2,000-Baht 8000) per visit while the girls would get free room and boarding and earn occasional tips. In five months, Suna was able to expand her brothel by renting a two-story, three-bedroom house. Most customers were Thai and Filipino workers and some Saudi citizens. Prakteknya diabad 21 ini !

http://www.sexual-terrorism.org/

Trafficking in Eastern European women is a huge business, bringing from $ 5 billion to $ 22 billion a year to the sex industry’s tycoons. The risks are lower and the profits higher than from drug smuggling, according to a recent report by the British Helsinki Human Rights Group. A woman can be resold and utilized until she dies or goes mad, which is often the case, said Marie-Jose Ragab, president of the Dulles Area Chapter of the National Organization for Women.

She said worse lies ahead for those who reach Turkey. There they are delivered to a market in the Turkish city of Trebizond, where they are literally bought and sold as slaves.

So what does human trafficking have to do with the Middle East? The problem has always existed in the area, but in deeply religious societies, the problem never gets the attention that it deserves.

Human trafficking is caused by political and economic upheavals and instability in the country of origin, widespread poverty, chronic unemployment, lack of economic opportunities, marginalization of women and girls, lack of education, rapid modernization leading to the loss of cultural values, development of materialistic values, break of family ties, and social and cultural practices that devalue women and girls.

Through transnational organized networks, criminals take advantage of declining conditions and prey on poor women, who are often displaced victims of war and lure them by work opportunities abroad. Women are generally bought, sold or auctioned to brothels and private buyers as sexual slaves. The crime of sex trafficking is spreading in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Lebanon and Yemen.

In Tehran alone, there are over 87,000 prostitutes on the streets, most of them forced into the business, with some being as young as nine years of age. Following the invasion and occupation in Iraq, hundreds of Iraqi women as well as Iraqi boys were kidnapped and sold into slavery in Syria and Yemen. In the United Arab Emirates, women are being trafficked from countries in Eastern Europe and Russia, and as far as China, India, and Indonesia.

The pattern of sexual slavery has not changed in the Middle East today, but rather has increased in modern times, especially in the more industrialized nations of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait. The business employs modern technology and takes advantage of porous borders and corrupt leadership. This increase resulted as the appeal for the old world desires was coupled with the lures of business and profit-making opportunities in the Middle East. The temptations of “business and pleasure” have attracted tourists, businessmen, criminal gangs and sexual predators alike from around the world.

This is a global phenomenon that is occurring at our doorstep, in every country, in every city, and it is possibly happening in your street at this moment. I live in San Diego, close to the busiest border in the world. I am not worried about “terrorists” crossing these borders. I am worried about girls as young as nine, being kidnapped and brought here against their will and made to lose their dignity and childhood, all for money and power.

In the Middle East, where civil wars are raging on in Iraq and the Sudan, and intense fighting in Palestine is prolonged by the lack of cooperation, the issue of sex trafficking becomes even more difficult to control. But, who is listening? It is terrorism that people are more worried about, this war between powerful men, and not human trafficking. Trafficking is a war between men and vulnerable human beings, most of whom are women. They are our mothers and daughters, sisters and nieces. Are you listening?

Indians forced into prostitution seek compensation

Dubai, July 4 (IANS) Three Indian women in Bahrain who were allegedly forced into prostitution have filed a complaint with labour officials in that Gulf nation.

The three, aged 24, 25 and 35, worked in a restaurant. They alleged that were forced into prostitution by the restaurant manager and a woman supervisor, both Indians.

According to a report in the Gulf Daily News newspaper, the trio alleged that they were kept confined in their apartment in Manama between their work shifts. All their salary was deducted to meet accommodation charges, compelling them to survive on tips.

The report quoted the victims as saying that they were forced into doing sexual acts and drinking with male customers to increase the take from each table.

The customers were usually Indian but whenever any Bahraini came, the manager and the supervisor signalled them to hide, as they feared that it could be a plainclothes policeman, the women said.

One of the women eventually contacted the Indian embassy in Manama. All three were rescued Sunday, following which they filed a criminal complaint with the police.

It is not known whether their Bahraini sponsor, the owner of the restaurant, was aware of the activities in the restaurant, according to the report.

Two of the women had been working in the restaurant for the last eight months while the third had been in Bahrain for two years.

Now, they are seeking unpaid wages, gratuity, bonus, air tickets and compensation for mental and physical abuse, the report quoted a consultant with the law firm that has taken up their case as saying.

U.S. cites 4 Gulf allies in trafficking report

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Four American allies in the Persian Gulf are among the countries criticized for not doing enough to combat human trafficking in a U.S. State Department report released Friday.

Human trafficking is nothing less than a modern form of slavery,” said Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in a news conference on the report.

In the annual “Trafficking in Persons” report, the State Department listed Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates as “Tier 3″ countries, which are defined as nations “whose governments do not fully comply with the minimum standards” set by American law and “are not making significant efforts to do so.”

The report identified the countries as destinations for trafficking victims exposed to sexual exploitation and forced labor.

The State Department also listed Bolivia, Cambodia, Cuba, Ecuador, Jamaica, Myanmar (formerly Burma), North Korea, Sudan, Togo and Venezuela as Tier 3 countries.

Our bitter reality

19,000 Pakistani children have been trafficked to the United Arab Emirates.

‘SANLAAP is a developmental organisation in West Bengal, India, working to correct social imbalances, which manifest in gender injustice and violence against children, youth and women. It works against the trafficking of children and women for commercial sexual exploitation and sexual abuse using a wide range of strategies: campaigns, advocacy and sensitisation of various stakeholders on the issue of trafficking on one hand, and rescue, rehabilitation, repatriation and socio-economic reintegration of trafficked persons on the other. SANLAAP engages youth as partners in all its endeavours.’

Sex Slavery Under the Islamic Republic of Iran
Apr 19, 2007

Image

Courtesy of Iranian arab-parasts, Islamic Infamy Continues in Iran Whilst Iranians' Pride Nowhere to be Found

A measure of the success of Islamists in controlling society is the depth and totality with which they suppress the freedom and rights of women. In Iran for 27 years, the ruling Islamists have enforced humiliating rules and punishments on women and girls, enslaving them in a gender apartheid system of segregation, forced veiling, second class status, lashing and stoning to death.

Islamists have added another way to dehumanize women and girls: buying and selling them for prostitution. Exact numbers of victims are impossible to obtain, but according to an official source in Tehran, there has been a 635 percent increase in the number of teen-age girls in prostitution. The magnitude of this statistic conveys how rapidly this form of abuse has grown. In Tehran, there are an estimated 84,000 women and girls in prostitution, many of them are on the streets, others are in the 250 brothels that reportedly operate in the city. The trade is also international: Thousands of Iranian women and girls have been sold into sexual slavery abroad.

The head of Iran's Interpol bureau believes that the sex-slave trade is one of the most profitable activities in Iran today. This criminal trade is not conducted outside the knowledge and participation of the ruling clerics.

Government officials themselves are involved in buying, selling and sexually abusing women and girls. Many of the girls come from impoverished rural areas. High unemployment -- 28 percent for youths from 15 to 29 years of age, and 43 percent for women from 15 to 20 years of age -- is a serious factor in driving restless youth to accept risky offers for work. Slave traders take advantage of any opportunity in which women and children are vulnerable. Following the recent earthquake in Bam, for example, orphaned girls have been kidnapped and taken to a known slave market in Tehran where Iranian and foreign traders meet.

Popular destinations for victims of the slave trade are the Arab countries in the Persian Gulf. According to the head of the Tehran provincial judiciary, traffickers target girls between 13 and 17 (and some reports of girls as young as 8 and 10) to send to Arab countries.

One ring was discovered after an 18-year-old girl escaped from a basement where a group of girls were held before being sent to Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. The number of Iranian women and girls who are deported from Persian Gulf countries indicates the magnitude of the trade. Upon their return to Iran, the Islamists blame the victims, and often physically punish and imprison them. The women are examined to determine if they have engaged in "immoral activity." Based on the findings, officials can ban them from leaving the country again.

There are many crimes committed against prostitutes here and no one is willing to fight it, mainly because people tend to think that prostitutes ask for it by agreeing to be “sex slaves” to begin with. It’s worth noting that a lot of these women weren’t even given the choice to be prostitutes; they were manipulated, brutalized and forced into such a deal. It’s a horrid crime and human traffickers always get away with it in the Arab world because not enough people care to stop it. None of the politicians are making this dreadful issue a high priority.

*Mostly Asian and Eastern European. In Bahrain, our government puts the interests of American and British citizens living here ahead of Bahraini citizens. And people from India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh are treated like 2nd class citizens who continue living in horrid conditions.

Saudi Arabia: Kawin Tamasya di Indonesia!!!!
http://www.indonesia.faithfreedom.org/f ... hp?t=28002

Tamasya Sex di Indonesia sangat populer di kalangan orang berada Saudi Arabia.

"Perkawinan"
