The regular readers of Islam-watch and Faithfreedom sites have already read a few superb comics created by 'Abdullah Ibn Abi Sarh. Evidently, all his comics depicting the truth about Islam and Muhammad’s life were outstanding. He is a truth-teller, but in a very special, effective, hilarious, clear and strong language. Incidentally, the
real 'Abdullah Ibn Abi Sarh was a convert to Islam who migrated to Medina with Muhammad. He used to write Allah’s revelations to Muhammad. After a while 'Abdullah discovered the truth—that Muhammad was a liar and all the revelations purported to be from Muhammad’s Allah were utter lies. ‘Abdullah deserted Muhammad, returned to Mecca and started to tell the truth. The writer of the current comic, Sex in Islam, has aptly adopted the moniker 'Abdullah Ibn Abi Sarh, because he is telling the truth about the sexual inanities in Islam generally, and about Muhammad’s and his companions’ bizarre sexual practices. Like his previous superb comic,
Biography of Prophet Muhammad Illustrated, the current publication,
Sex in Islam, is also
a work of genius that will please and educate many readers.
It is said that a picture is worth ten thousand words. To confirm this truth one must watch the comic created by 'Abdullah Ibn Abi Sarh in his masterfully crafted comic,
Sex in Islam. It is a piece of artwork that history may record as the world’s first pictorial illustration of Muhammad and his companions’ often bizarre sexual life.
Each frame of the comic has been masterfully crafted with precision, details and with vivid color. The frames clearly show that the author is a virtuoso in creating difficult and tedious comic. It is difficult because the creator must be absolutely certain of the historical records as well as the Holy Scriptures of Islam, such as the Qur'an, Hadis and Sira (Muhammad’s biography). In all of these details, Ibn Abi Sarh, the author, has demonstrated his incredible craftsmanship.
The suckling of bearded, grown up men by women and the background to veiling of women—because of defecating in the open field were the most interesting and hilarious episodes, I would say.
Watching the comic is like a time-travel through the seventh century Arabia, a time when Muhammad established his cult in Medina. The presentation is superb. The narrations and speech bubbles are easy, engaging and absorbing. Once started, the reader is compelled to finish in one sitting, even when there are 87 pages. Each frame is a valuable piece of art where the private life of Islam’s Prophet has been described in detail, accurately and in a true-to-life manner. I think this comic is the first to narrate Muhammad’s sexual and parts of his family life in a truly fluid and engrossing style.
Many of us have read the sex and sexual lives of Muhammad and many of his companions. Watching this comic is really re-living those experiences.
Apart from a few minor editing errors, the presentation is flawless, historically accurate and fully referenced. Ibn Abi Sarh has been meticulous and thorough in details.
I congratulate Ibn Sarh for presenting, such a masterpiece.
